The Maritime Forum of Norway was established as a foundation in 1990 and, since then, the main office and its eight regional chapters have been engaged in bringing the needs of the maritime industry, the seafarers and maritime offshore into the political limelight. This includes promoting the maritime industry and fostering co-operation among its several hundred members, national authorities, industry organizations and trade unions, buyers and sellers in Norway.

We seek to strengthen contacts within Norway's maritime cluster, enabling all stakeholders from ship-owners to equipment suppliers to thrive. We aim for them to enhance their competitiveness and increase value, and for Norway as such to capitalize on its maritime knowledge base.

With over 90,000 people employed in the maritime sector and being the largest export industry for Norway second only to the petroleum industry, the forum's role is also to promote its positive image among the Norwegian public and encourage young people to pursue careers in the industry's various branches. They constitute the group who will ensure Norway's status as a leading maritime nation.
